"The light shines in the darkness and the darkness can never extinguish it." --John 1:5

We lit a candle for our sweet Alice tonight. There's something sad and sobering and, dare I say it...joyful, about seeing that tiny flame flicker in the darkness like some sort of hauntingly beautiful birthday candle. There are a lifetime's worth of wishes and prayers in that little flame. Imagine that. An entire life, all those milestones and celebrations, the mundane and magical, extinguished in one breath. But still she shines. How powerful! Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month organizers and participants call this event the Wave Of Light. But I see a circle. A circle of friends and family who grieve and love in equal measure. October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month The darkness presses in, but we focus on the light. That's how we hold on to hope. That's how we find peace. There's where we find joy.
